Details
Included: transportation and driver, tour of the souvenir shop and the Marija Zvijezda monastery, host in the monastery, tour of the first Banja Luka hydroelectric power plant, tour of the brewery (entrance to the museum included). After the tour of the monastery, there will be a pleasant walk with a conversation about the history of the Municipality of Slatina and lunch at the Hunting Restaurant. Not included: personal expensesMary the Star has been shining over the Trappist Church for more than a century. You will see the once largest monastery of the strict order of reformed Trappists. Today's Nektar brewery in Banja Luka is located in the place where Trappist beer was once produced. What the monastery is famous for today is the Trappist cheese, which is named after the name of the Marija star monastery. Trappist cheese was exported to all countries of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy and beyond, i.e. throughout Europe. After a short break in production, Trappist cheese has been in production again since 2008. The secret recipe is known only to one Trappist, and to another it is passed down by word of mouth. In case of sudden death, he goes to a monastery in France for a prescription.
